Dr. Arnold Peter Weiss is the R. Scot Sellers Scholar of Hand Surgery, Chief of Hand Surgery, Vice Chairman, and Professor of Orthopedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
Arnold Peter Weiss is a highly experienced, award-winning hand surgeon with University Orthopedics in Providence, Rhode Island. He is the R. Scot Sellers Scholar of Hand Surgery, Chief of Hand Surgery, Vice Chairman, and Professor of Orthopedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. He specializes in hand and wrist reconstruction with a particular interest in finger and wrist joint replacement surgery.
Recently, Arnold Peter Weiss reached a career highlight: he received the Weiland Medical for Outstanding Lifetime Research in hand Surgery while attending the American Society for Surgery of the Hand meeting held in Boston, MA. In addition to this accomplishment, he then went on to run two major symposiums discussing innovation and business in healthcare, served on three panels meant for instructional courses, and gave eight different lectures on hand surgery itself.
Arnold Peter Weiss is the current editor of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) Textbook of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery and former editor of the Journal of Hand Surgery. He was the founding Dean of Admissions at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the holder of numerous United States patents for widely used medical devices. Dr. Weiss has been honored with America’s Top Doctors, Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Surgeons awards.
Arnold Peter Weiss earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a hand surgery fellowship at the Indiana Hand Center.
Alongside his expertise in hand surgery, Arnold Peter Weiss has business expertise culled from nearly thirty years of career experience in hospitals, academic institutions, and professional committees. He has also served on the boards of various medical, nonprofit, and corporate organizations, and cofounded CAMEO Capital Management, Selinos Capital Management, OsteoSpring Medical, IlluminOss Medical, and Nomos AG.
He is currently a business advisor for Loci Orthopaedics, a medical devices startup offering an orthopedic thumb implant for thumb base arthritis. Loci won the 2017 MedTech Ireland Start-Up Competition.
Arnold Peter Weiss leads a Business of Medicine course at Alpert Medical School of Brown University and is a Visiting Lecturer at Jonathan M. Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship. He has also given presentations around the country about the art of negotiation (and recently authored a publication in The Journal of Hand Surgery on the topic).

Outside of his professional career, Dr. Weiss enjoys collecting art, basketball, sailing, woodworking, rowing, and more. He is on the Board of Directors for the National Rowing Foundation.
